MEDIA PRACTICE IN AN EMERGENT WORLD ORDER- 2022 SYMPOSIUM

Speaker(s): Center for Media at Risk, Center for Advanced Research in Global Communication

In the best of times, the safety and viability of media practice are in question and risks take on unpredictable and potentially savaging forms. But what happens when the existing world order abruptly changes?  Russia’s recent assault on Ukraine has ignited conditions that are inviting a reset of world alliances. This symposium will track the impact of these conditions and the emergent world order they produce on media practitioners of all sorts—in journalism, documentary filmmaking, entertainment and digital spaces.  Organized by the Center for Media at Risk and the Center for Advanced Research in Global Communication at the Annenberg School for Communication at the University of Pennsylvania, the symposium takes place across a Thursday evening keynote event and three panels with media practitioners and scholars on Friday. We hope you can join us!
