Julieta Alejandra Brambila is a transwoman and a media scholar. She is an Assistant Professor at the School of Communication at the Universidad de las Américas, Puebla, Mexico and PhD researcher at the School of Media and Communication at the University of Leeds, United Kingdom.

She specializes in journalism, comparative political communication, press freedom and safety of journalists, as well as public opinion and public diplomacy in México and the Americas. While in residence at the Center in Summer 2018, Brambila aims to investigate whether or not the rise of solidarity journalism changes the forms of news content coverage.
